The New York Rangers are waiting for an update on Igor Shesterkin after his injury against the Washington Capitals. For now, there is no update. And the Rangers had to continue playing without their star goaltender on Friday night.
Unfortunately, they were unable to pick up the win. The Capitals won the game by the score of 3-1. Washington's game-winning goal came on the heels of a turnover from Rangers rookie.
After the game, head coach Mike Sullivan was asked about this moment. He took the time to defend the rookie forward, saying that things can happen very fast at this level.
“He's a young player. Those things are going to happen, that's what I said to him. You got to be able to move by it, and you got to keep playing.,. Things happen fast,” Sullivan said, via Mollie Walker of The New York Post.
The Rangers head coach knows that Beaudoin is a good player. He was a coveted prospect when the Rangers acquired him in the summer. He has a bright future in the NHL.
“Cole's a good player. It's a game of mistakes out there. He's a young player, he's trying to adjust to the league, and that's one of the challenges,” Sullivan said.
Beaudoin was acquired by the Rangers in the Vincent Trocheck trade over the summer. Trocheck was sent to the Utah Mammoth in exchange for Beaudoin, defenseman Sean Durzi, and a draft pick. Beaudoin has yet to record a point in the two games he has played thus far.
