Chicago White Sox pitcher Sean Burke has shared his thoughts on starting Game 5 of the American League Division Series against the Cleveland Guardians on Saturday, October 10. The winner will advance to the American League Championship Series.

Burke called the opportunity an honor and expressed confidence in his teammates ahead of the deciding game. He hopes to help the White Sox keep their postseason run alive.

“Obviously it's an honor to be able to start this game and just go out there and do my thing for the guys,” Burke told reporters Friday.

The 26-year-old also believes his teammates will give their best effort against Cleveland. “Everybody is going to be at their best for tomorrow's game,” he added.

The Chicago White Sox initially took a 2-0 lead in the series, but the Guardians fought back with consecutive wins. Cleveland won Game 3 by a score of 9-3 before taking Game 4 with a 9-5 victory.

Burke impressed against Cleveland in Game 2, allowing just one run and one hit across 5.1 innings. He also recorded six strikeouts and retired 13 straight batters during his appearance.

The White Sox pitcher has recorded a 1.19 ERA against the Guardians across four appearances during the 2026 season. His previous success against Cleveland gives Chicago a familiar option for the deciding matchup.

Burke will now try to deliver another strong performance as the White Sox face elimination. Chicago needs one more victory to advance, while Cleveland hopes to complete its comeback. The winner of Game 5 will face the Tampa Bay Rays in the ALCS.
