The Los Angeles Dodgers earned a victory over the Atlanta Braves in Game 4 of the NLDS to advance to the NLCS. Edwin Diaz shut the door on the Braves in the 9th inning to secure the 4-1 series-clinching win. Diaz has been reliable in the postseason following a regular season that was defined by injuries and inconsistency for the veteran reliever. After the game, Diaz shared a post on X, formerly Twitter, for the first time since late March.
“NLCS LETS GOOO DODGERS,” Diaz wrote along with three fire emojis.
It seems as if Diaz has found his All-Star form once again. He finished the regular season with an alarming 8.68 ERA across 21 total outings. It was a disaster of a regular season for the star closer.
Diaz appeared in three of the four games in the NLDS and did not surrender a run, however. He recorded two saves as well. Diaz allowed just one hit while not walking any batters and striking out three hitters.
The Dodgers will be in a tremendous position if Diaz is able to bring his momentum into the NLCS against the talented Milwaukee Brewers. The Brewers pose a serious threat to the Dodgers' World Series hopes, but LA will remain confident, especially with the way Diaz is throwing the baseball right now.
Game 1 of the Dodgers and Brewers series is scheduled for Sunday. It should be a competitive NLCS as the Dodgers look to advance to the Fall Classic and potentially win their third consecutive World Series.
