With the Milwaukee Brewers once again making the NLCS, the stage is familiar from last season, where the goal of winning the pennant is blocked by the massive obstacle of taking down the Los Angeles Dodgers. While the Brewers look to prove they're a serious threat to the Dodgers in the NLCS, manager Pat Murphy would speak on how the team could slay the beast that has been dominating the MLB in recent memory.
According to Adam McCalvy of MLB.com, Murphy understands the intimidating nature of the Dodgers, but the way to win in this league is to “play as a team.”
“We have a monumental task ahead of us, based on what I know about the Dodgers. There’s like an All-Star at every position,” Murphy said. “But you know what? Teams win. And we’ve got to play as a team.”
With Milwaukee knocking out the San Diego Padres in the NLDS, the team was on the verge of sweeping their opponents, though Game 3 saw San Diego push the series another game. However, the “momentum” switching was beneficial to the Brewers, per Murphy.
“The momentum switched after [the Brewers’ Game 3 loss], and to come out today and be so diligent in front of this crowd, it was a great win all the way around,” Murphy said.
This Brewers team feels “different”
Article Continues BelowRegarding standout outings, Garrett Mitchell would get the scoring started for the Brewers with an RBI single in the third inning of the Game 4 win, as he said something “just feels different” with Milwaukee this season.
“I feel like this year we just have a different type of confidence, a different type of belief, and we’re just going out there and having fun — not putting too much pressure on ourselves. And we know we’re a force to be reckoned with,” Mitchell said. “We know the Dodgers are a force to be reckoned with, too, and it’s going to be a really, really fun series and hopefully we come out on top.”
The Brewers have a chance to start strong against the Dodgers with Game 1 of the NLCS starting Sunday.
