The Charlotte Hornets have an interesting squad heading into the 2026-27 season, having shaken things up over the offseason by trading LaMelo Ball to the Minnesota Timberwolves, among other moves. One of Charlotte's returning faces is shooting guard Coby White, whom the team acquired from the Chicago Bulls last season.

Recently, White detailed how pampered he was when the Hornets first acquired him from Chicago.

“When I got traded, I was expecting it was gonna hit me; my flight time, what airline, I was flying commercial… that's what I'm prepared for… And then they said, ‘Oh, no, they're flying you private to get there.' They flew me private. They had Chick-fil-A on the flight. They took care of me. I learned early on that, ‘Okay, they're serious. They're legit. They're trying to really turn things around,'” he said, per Kyle Bailey, via HornetsReddit on X, formerly Twitter.

Clearly, the Hornets' new approach to becoming a more serious organization has rubbed off on the players as the team looks to build off the success of last season.

The Hornets went on a hot streak in the second half of the 2025-26 season to make the play-in game, where they beat the Miami Heat before getting walloped by the Orlando Magic. Many fans were puzzled when the team opted to trade Ball, who was largely the engine of their elite offense, to Minnesota in exchange for a package centered around Naz Reid, but the Hornets still have plenty of other elite weapons on their squad, including last year's standout rookie Kon Knueppel.

In any case, the Hornets are slated to kick off their new season on October 21 with a road game against the Brooklyn Nets.
