One of the burning questions of the offseason has been whether or not Mike Brown's New York Knicks will visit Donald Trump's White House in celebration of the team's championship.
Apparently, the team is still mulling it over, according to the head coach (via ESPN). Brown said, “No, it's still something that our guys, or the organization, is internally discussing and, you know, whatever we decide to do, we'll all do together.”
In recent years, Trump hasn't been visited by NBA teams. During his first term, he said he wouldn't invite either potential winner of the 2018 NBA Finals, the Golden State Warriors or the Cleveland Cavaliers. However, star players like Stephen Curry and LeBron James dismissed the notion that they'd be interested in going regardless.
Last year, the Oklahoma City Thunder didn't visit, citing timing issues as the reason. As ESPN notes, the Knicks may still have some time, as teams generally try to lump a White House visit into their games in Washington, D.C. The Knicks are scheduled to play the Wizards at Capital One Arena on Dec. 18 and Mar. 16.

The Knicks won their first championship in 53 years in June 2026 against the San Antonio Spurs. Trump famously attended Game 3 at Madison Square Garden, the only game the Knicks lost in the series. They came back from being down by as much as 29 points in Game 4 at the Garden.
Brown couldn't have had a better first year with the Knicks. His team won the NBA Cup and the NBA Finals (both against the Spurs). Previously, he was Coach of the Year twice with the Cavaliers and the Sacramento Kings. However, he never won a championship as a head coach (winning four as an assistant) before his time with the Knicks. They open their season against LeBron and the Philadelphia 76ers.
