The Arizona Cardinals have look good, but not great, to start the Mike LaFleur era. Arizona is 1-2 headed into Week 4 and the team is already figuring out which players will be a part of the new regime. But one player who probably isn't part of those plans is dominating headlines at this point in the season.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler and Dan Graziano shared some intel from around the league in their latest article. Fowler spent some time talking about Marvin Harrison Jr. and whether or not he'll be traded this season.
“Teams are continuing to watch the Marvin Harrison Jr. situation closely, wondering if he would become available, as Dan pointed out last week,” Fowler wrote. “He would have a market, though not for a high pick (possibly a quality Day 3 pick, as one team forecasted).”
Harrison has yet to live up to expectations in Arizona. But the negative sentiment around him has reached a fever pitch because of his slow start to the year. Harrison only managed one reception for 33 yards through two weeks. However, he did improve in Week 3, logging three receptions for 40 yards on five targets.
Still, it is clear that Trey McBride and Michael Wilson are the primary options in the passing game.
Scouts around the league have been shocked at how poorly Harrison has played in the NFL. He looked like a guaranteed superstar after a dominant collegiate career at Ohio State.
“I don't think one scout expected this. I didn't see all the drops and lack of competing [in college],” one team evaluator pointed out, per Fowler. “Very weird. Probably needs a fresh start. Looks too big for him right now.”
It is already clear that Harrison is not a priority in LaFleur's offense. But any real trade activity around Harrison may have to wait until closer to the deadline.
