The Chicago Bears could address a major defensive need by adding Oregon defensive lineman A'Mauri Washington in the 2027 NFL Draft.
Chicago improved to 2-1 with an impressive 27-7 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football, with third-string quarterback Case Keenum leading the offense in Caleb Williams' absence. Despite the strong start to the season, ClutchPoints' latest 2027 NFL mock draft has the Bears reinforcing their defensive front with Washington at No. 19 overall.

The 6-foot-3, 325-pound A’Mauri Washington is arguably the best run-stuffer in this class, and that is something the Bears desperately need. That Chicago defense has been incredibly shaky through three weeks, and getting an anchor on the interior defensive line would be a nice rebuilding step.”
Washington would give Chicago a sizable presence in the middle of its defensive line. At 6-foot-3 and 325 pounds, the Oregon standout projects as an interior defender capable of helping the Bears improve against the run.
The selection would also mark a change from the previous ClutchPoints mock draft, which projected Chicago to take Missouri offensive lineman Cayden Green.
Bears look to build momentum after Week 3 win over Eagles
For now, Chicago's attention remains on maintaining its early-season momentum despite being without Williams.
The Bears quarterback is sidelined with a Grade 2 hamstring strain and is expected to miss three to four weeks, forcing Chicago to rely on its quarterback depth in the meantime. Keenum delivered in his opportunity against Philadelphia, helping the Bears bounce back from their Week 2 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
Chicago will now attempt to earn its second consecutive home victory when it hosts the New York Jets in Week 4.
The Bears (2-1) and Jets (1-2) will meet Sunday at 1 p.m. ET on FOX. While the 2027 NFL Draft remains months away, Washington represents an early potential option for Chicago to strengthen the interior of its defense.
