The Ravens carried kicker Tyler Loop off the field at the end of last Sunday’s game in Rio, which turned out to be a good indicator for who the AFC special teams player of the week would be.
Loop nailed a 56-yard field goal on the final snap of the game to lift the Ravens to a 34-31 win. The kick was set up by a Lamar Jackson pass to Zay Flowers and a quick timeout to give Loop a chance to play hero.
Loop made another field goal and all four extra points he tried during the win. It’s the first time Loop has been named the top special teamer of the week.
It was also a bit of redemption for a player who missed a field goal at the end of Week 18 that would have sent the Ravens to the playoffs last season. If all goes well for the Ravens the rest of the way, Loop will get a chance to try his luck in the postseason.
