The New York Yankees were in full control of the Boston Red Sox in Game 1 of their Wild Card series, and they won 9-0. It felt like the Yankees could do no wrong, and it was Cam Schlittler who impressed many with his play on the mound. In Game 1, he allowed only two hits in 6 1/3 scoreless innings, walking one and striking out 10.

Josh Hart also noticed the curveball that Schlittler had, and he gave him his props on social media.

“Cam’s throwing a mid 80s Cruve?! OKAYYYYY,” Hart wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Hart wasn't the only one who noticed, as manager Aaron Boone was able to see up close and personal and spoke about Schlitter's play after the game.

“Awesome. He was great,” Boone said via MLB Network. “The only thing was, obviously, a higher pitch count. They made them work a little bit there in the first inning; Rutschman had a really long bat against them. They took some tough bats against them throughout the night that made it hard for him to get super deep, but he was terrific. Probably his best curveball of the year to go with, I thought, really good command and in control of his heaters.”

Schlittler did exactly what the Yankees needed him to in the first game, and it will be up to Max Fried to close out the Red Sox as the Game 2 starter. The Yankees have to like their chances, and if they can carry over their play from Game 1, they should be in good hands.
