Coach Kyle Shanahan's San Francisco 49ers have a golden opportunity to knock off the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks in Week 5 action but are battling injuries to Nick Bosa and others. Previously injured defensive end Mykel Williams is expected to join the fun along with Mike Evans, the team's key offseason receiver pickup.
Evans has become a fixture in and around the Bay Area, most recently attending a WNBA game between the Las Vegas Aces and Golden State Valkyries at the Chase Center in San Francisco. Evans was impressed by what he saw, perhaps more so than most people expected.
“Amazing. We had an amazing time. Shoutout to the Valkyries, shout out to the organization for looking after us. Probably the best basketball game I've ever been to, honestly. I've been to the Finals games, I'm a huge, like, Rockets fan, I lived in Houston, so I guess I'm a Rockets fan. Went to a lot of games, and it's hard to beat that atmosphere.”

Evans has dealt with “stabbing” pain from a rib injury lately but played through it. He was listed as a game-time decision ahead of Week 4's game against the Denver Broncos and recovered in time to play while catching five passes for 76 yards to lead San Francisco in receiving yards.
The 49ers know they have a warrior on their hands in Evans and a big basketball fan who likes to cheer for local teams. He could stay in San Francisco longer than anyone expected if he continues on his current path.
