Arsenal vs Chelsea predictions and betting tips – Another crunch clash for Gunners

Arsenal restored their five-point cushion at the top of the Premier League with a convincing 4-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur last weekend. Now another London derby awaits.

Two recent home draws have dented Chelsea’s top-five prospects, but Liam Rosenior’s side remain in a decent position. Can they damage Arsenal’s title hopes at the Emirates Stadium?

That was more like it.

After dropping two points against last-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers and then watching Manchester City beat Newcastle United, Arsenal needed a response in last weekend’s north London derby.

That is exactly what they got. A thumping 4-1 victory over their arch-rivals left Tottenham Hotspur in relegation trouble and restored Arsenal’s five-point cushion at the top of the Premier League table.

The performance pleased Arteta as much as the result. It was the type of game Arsenal needed to win by any means necessary, but the manner of their triumph was impressive – even after considering how poor their opponents were.

Arsenal made a fast start at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and deservedly took the lead through Ebere Eze.

A Declan Rice mistake allowed Randal Kolo Muani to equalise soon after, but Arsenal did not panic. They continued to play their football and were rewarded with three goals after the interval.

“The whole team, I cannot be prouder and happier,” Arteta said after the game. “Not just for this match but for the way we lived the last 72 hours [since the loss to Wolves].

“We showed what we are made of but you have to show it again and again and again. A rollercoaster ride is not possible. We are proud of the manner in which we won the game. We know what it means to us. We go again.”

Next up is another London derby, this time against Chelsea. Liam Rosenior has had a broadly positive start to his tenure at Stamford Bridge, although he was left frustrated by his team’s 1-1 draw with Burnley last time out.

Rosenior’s side have now dropped four points from winning positions at home to promoted teams, having been held to a 2-2 tie by Leeds United earlier this month.

Liverpool have pulled level on points with Chelsea in the top-five battle. By the time this match kicks off at the Emirates Stadium, the Blues could trail Liverpool by three points (Arne Slot’s side host West Ham United on Saturday).

Rosenior will want to see a reaction from his team, but Chelsea’s recent record against Arsenal does not exactly inspire confidence.

Indeed, none of the last 10 meetings between this pair in all competitions have ended with Chelsea triumphant. How Rosenior would love to end that winless streak this weekend.

Arsenal vs Chelsea betting tips

Arsenal and Chelsea butt heads in the standout fixture of the upcoming Premier League weekend.

Arsenal to win it

With Manchester City once again playing before Arsenal this weekend, there is a good chance the gap at the top will be back down to two points by the time this match gets under way.

Arsenal did a good job of handling the pressure last weekend, but that was against a poor Tottenham Hotspur team. Chelsea will pose a stiffer test.

Even so, we expect Arsenal to get the job done. The 4-1 victory over Spurs will have restored confidence in the camp, while Chelsea remain a flawed side.

Goals are on the cards in this one. There have been over 2.5 goals in six of Chelsea’s last eight outings, as well as in four of Arsenal’s last five.

Goals at both ends

Only Arsenal and Manchester City have scored more goals in the Premier League than Chelsea this term.

The Blues have found the back of the net at least once in 19 of their last 20 matches in all competitions, so they will be confident about breaching Arsenal’s backline here.

It is hard to see the visitors to the Emirates keeping a clean sheet, though. For one, Chelsea have not shut out a top-flight team away from home in any of their last eight games.

Secondly, Arsenal have found the back of the net in each of their last 10 assignments across the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and EFL Cup.

Gyokeres on target?

Viktor Gyokeres delivered his best performance in an Arsenal shirt in the 4-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

The two goals he scored certainly helped, but Gyokeres impressed with his all-round game as well.

Will it be a turning point? Arteta will certainly hope so. The Sweden international has largely struggled up to now, but another dominant display against Chelsea would start to shift opinions.

Gyokeres is not the most polished centre-forward, but he has something to contribute to Arsenal’s title tilt.
