Anthony Edwards ruled out for Game 4 vs. Nuggets after knee injury
The Minnesota Timberwolves were already dealing with the injury to Donte DiVincenzo in Game 4 of their opening round series against the Denver Nuggets, when franchise star Anthony Edwards went down and was ultimately ruled out for the remainder of the game, the team announced.
The injury occurred late in the second quarter during the Timberwolves’ Game 4 against the Nuggets when Anthony Edwards went up to contest a shot from Cam Johnson. Edwards landed awkwardly on his knee and immediately crumpled to the floor. The broadcast team suggested that was a hyperextended knee. He was unable to walk on his own and was helped to the locker room.
After halftime neither Edwards nor DiVincenzo were in the lineup to start the third quarter with the Nuggets holding a slim lead and looking to even the series at two games apiece.
Coming into the series, Edwards had been dealing with knee issues, however, it was his right knee that was giving him problems and caused him to be sidelined for 11 out of 14 games to end the regular season. The knee he landed on in Game 4 was his left knee.
At the time he left the game, Edwards had five points and three rebounds in 18 minutes of play. He was 1-of-8 from the field, 1-of-3 from the 3-point line and 2-of-2 from the free-throw line.
Through the Wolves’ first three games of this series, he was averaging a playoff career-high 28.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.4 steals with splits of 48.9 percent shooting from the field, 39.9 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 79.6 percent shooting from the free-throw line.
