Another ex-Ole Miss star expected to join Lane Kiffin after Saints stint

LSU football turned heads in adding some NFL representation ahead of the 2026 season. Former Cleveland Browns tight end Dae’Quan Wright isn’t the only one rejoining Lane Kiffin, though. A New Orleans Saints undrafted rookie with Ole Miss ties looks ready to rejoin the Tigers head coach.

CBS Sports college football insider Matt Zenitz dropped this update Monday.

“LSU is currently expected to add former New Orleans Saints and ex-Ole Miss star defensive lineman Zxavian Harris, sources tell me and AYS Sports,” Zenitz posted on the social media website X, formerly Twitter.

That means a towering 6-foot-8, 330-pound presence is coming to Baton Rouge. Harris first entered the College Football Transfer Portal on Aug. 19. But he dips out of the Saints and the NFL following a new landmark injunction.

Judges in both Colorado and Louisiana helped grant players who graduated from high school in 2022 a fifth-year of eligibility. This also allowed undrafted players like Harris and Wright access to return to college.

Although players seeking to enter the portal needed to file a TRO (Temporary Restraining Order) to the NCAA in allowing them to re-enter the portal. Such is the case of Tampa Bay Buccaneers edge rusher Jack Pyburn, who played at LSU last season before Kiffin’s arrival.

So now the ex-Kiffin players are taking advantage of this historic move. This despite the season coming fast and fall camps already in full swing.

Kiffin immediately is facing critics, notably NFL insider for Sports Illustrated Albert Breer. The insider also wonders if others including national champion Indiana will follow suit and pluck away NFL rejects.
