Anonymous NBA player shades Wizards’ Brian Keefe in savage Thanos fashion

The Washington Wizards ended the season with the NBA’s worst record at 17-65, and now head coach Brian Keefe is catching heat from players around the league.

In an anonymous player poll conducted by The Athletic, Keefe received votes as the league’s least impressive coach for the second straight year. One response stood out above the rest because it sounded straight out of Avengers: Endgame.

“I don’t even know who’s coaching the Wizards, but whoever coaches the Wizards,” one player said.

The quote instantly brought to mind Thanos delivering his cold “I don’t even know who you are” line during the climactic battle against Scarlet Witch in the Marvel blockbuster.

Wizards’ rough season continues to follow Keefe

Washington’s rebuilding process has produced plenty of losses over the last few seasons, but Keefe remains in a difficult position as the public face of the franchise’s long-term reset.

The Wizards dropped 26 of their final 27 games while prioritizing player development and lottery positioning. That balancing act created frustration from multiple angles. Fans disliked the constant losing, while stretches of unexpected wins sometimes sparked criticism from people focused on draft odds.

One of the harshest comments from the anonymous poll referenced Washington’s March 10 loss to the Miami Heat, when Bam Adebayo exploded for 83 points in a 150-129 victory.

“They should all be out of the league for that,” another player reportedly said while explaining the vote for Keefe.

Despite the criticism, Wizards management has continued backing Keefe throughout the rebuild. The organization still appears committed to its long-term approach, even as outside perception keeps getting uglier.
