AJ Dybantsa gives 2026 class a LeBron James comparison ahead of draft night
Ahead of Tuesday’s NBA Draft, former BYU standout AJ Dybantsa compared his class to one of the best in NBA history. Dybantsa is presumed to be the number one pick by the Washington Wizards and recently did an interview with Malika Andrews, singing high praises about his specific draft class. He even compared the draft class to the 2003 NBA Draft that featured LeBron James, Chris Bosh, Carmelo Anthony, and Dwyane Wade.
"When it's all said and done, how do you think this [draft] class is going to be talked about?"
AJ Dybantsa: "I think it's gonna be probably one of the most talked about draft classes since LeBron [James']."

In an interview on NBA Today with Malika Andrews, Dybantsa was asked where his draft class will rank amongst the greatest. Dybantsa was definitive with his answer.
“Yeah, I think at least 10 of us will probably be still playing when, let’s say, eight years down the road. I think that’s how deep we are. Um, but it can be more. Um, and I think this will be probably one of the most talked about draft classes since LeBron’s, I think…I think we’re just super talented, and the fact that it’s a lot of freshmen kind of tells the story.”
The 2026 NBA draft class is indeed highly anticipated. While Dybantsa is presumed to be the number one pick in the draft, former Kansas guard Darryn Peterson and former Duke big man Cam Boozer both have a claim at the top pick. There are also several players that are believed to be franchise-changing talent, such as former UNC forward Caleb Wilson and former Arkansas standout Darius Acuff Jr. There has been substantial conversation about players such as Michigan big man Aday Mara.
