Mike Alstott is regarded as one of the best fullbacks in NFL history.

Alstott played every season of his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after they selected him in the second round of the 1996 NFL Draft.

It was a career in which he amassed 5,088 rushing yards and 58 touchdowns on 1,359 carries.

Known for his physicality on the ground, Alstott also had 305 catches for 2,284 yards.

Alstott, also known as ‘A-Train’, earned Pro Bowl honors six times, and won the 2002 Super Bowl with Tampa Bay, over the then Oakland Raiders.

The human bulldozer caught five passes for 43 yards, rushed for 15 yards and collected the first Super Bowl touchdown in Buccaneers history.

He retired at the conclusion of the 2007 season, after spending that entire year on the injured reserve list because of neck issues.

Despite being considered one of the best to do it at the position, he has not been inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

A-Train hasn’t received a ball in just under two decades, but he still looks like he could truck through defenders in today’s game.

NFL fans call for comeback after seeing Alstott’s incredible physique

Earlier in the week, the Buccaneers Instagram account posted a video of the 52-year-old lifting weights on a beach, biceps bulging with every rep.

The post was captioned: “A-Train looks like he could still play on Sundays.”

Alstott’s physique at his age has led some fans to call for him to make a comeback to the league.

“Damm looking good, I want to see him back on the Bucs asap,” one fan commented.

“Okay so I need A-Train back on the Bucs like yesterday,” a second added.

“Bro needs to suit up and I bet he can still push some bodies,” a third said.

“Put him on the roster now, you know what to do,” a fourth plead to the Buccaneers front office.

“An absolute legend amongst us, the NFL would ban him after one run,” a fifth said.

Buccaneers could benefit from Alstott return

It’s highly unlikely, but not uncommon to see some of the legends of the game ‘un-retire’ and come back.

Last year, Philip Rivers un-retired in a desperate dart throw to save the Indianapolis Colts‘ season.

While that didn’t work out, with the Colts missing the playoffs entirely, it might have made some of the legends of the game think about it.

Tampa Bay could use some enforcements in their rushing department.

In 2025, the Buccaneers had 1,947 rushing yards and just 13 touchdowns – the 10th worst in the league.

Bucky Irving led the way, with 588 yards in 10 games but just one touchdown, Rachaad White played in all 17 games and posted 572 yards.
