5-star WR Chris Henry Jr. still hasn’t signed letter of intent with Ohio State football
The Ohio State football program is currently gearing up for the Big 10 Championship Game on Saturday evening against Indiana. The game will be a matchup between number one and number two in the country, with a bye in the college football playoff on the line.
Meanwhile, head coach Ryan Day and company are simultaneously having to juggle that with the current onslaught of recruiting happenings, with early signing day taking place on Wednesday.
During the day, the Buckeyes’ program got a bit of troubling news regarding one of their key recruiting targets for the upcoming class.
“Phio State Five-Star Plus+ WR commit Chris Henry Jr. has yet to officially sign with the Buckeyes,” reported Pete Nakos Rivals on X, formerly Twitter, citing a report from Pete Nakos and Greg Biggins.
The Buckeyes were hoping that Henry Jr. would be the next in a line of elite wide receivers that have passed through the Ohio State football program over the years. Last year, Ohio State had both Emeka Egbuka, who has already established himself as a star at the NFL level with teh Tampa Bay Buccaneers in his rookie season, and Jeremiah Smith, who is arguably the best overall player in the country as a sophomore, on its roster, and they certainly will want to keep that receiver pipeline as strong as possible moving forward.
However, for now, the Buckeyes’ main focus is likely on figuring out a way to repeat as national champions, hoping to join the Georgia Bulldogs as teams to do so in recent college football history.
First up on that quest is a game against an Indiana team that went through the regular season undefeated and has a Heisman Trophy candidate in Fernando Mendoza at quarterback.
That game is set for Saturday evening at 8:00 pm ET from Indianapolis.
