2 arrested in Argentina for links to crime ring that targeted Luka Doncic, Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, others

Two Chilean citizens suspected of being involved in the house robberies of Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic (among others) have been arrested.

The arrested Chileans were linked to a “transnational gang” that allegedly organized the home burglaries. The arrests occurred in Buenos Aires, Argentina, at the Retiro bus station.

While the two arrested haven’t been identified, they were still in custody as they awaited “extradition proceedings” that were requested by the United States.

Luka Doncic, Patrick Mahomes, and Travis Kelce’s home burglaries

Over the last couple of years, several high-profile athletes have had their homes robbed. Among those whose houses were burglarized were Doncic, Mahomes, Kelce, Mike Conley Jr., Jalen Brown’s mother, and former tennis star Jan Martín Del Potro. The NFL issued a security alert to teams and players after the Mahomes and Kelce burglaries in 2024.

The crime groups allegedly used “publicly available information and social media” to figure out athletes’ habits and travel. They also used technology that got them past security alarm systems, even allowing them to disable devices. The groups were also able to hide their identities and cover security cameras that could’ve potentially exposed them.

The Kansas City Chiefs stars’ homes were broken into one day apart in October 2024. At the time that Kelce’s residence was being robbed, the Chiefs were playing the New Orleans Saints. He had $20,000 in cash stolen and had his back door damaged. Luckily for Mahomes, his house wasn’t reported to be damaged at the time.

Doncic was still with the Dallas Mavericks at the time of his burglary. He and his family were safe, and he would file a police report. He would be traded to the Lakers a few months later.
