Yankees rumors: Gerrit Cole may return sooner than expected amid Max Fried injury
As the New York Yankees deal with Max Fried’s latest injury, a bone bruise that will hold him out of action for at least the next week, Aaron Boone’s squad may soon receive an unexpected boost in the form of their ace, Gerrit Cole, who is working his way back from Tommy John surgery.
Talking to reporters about Cole’s progress, Boone noted that his path back to the Majors may not feature any additional stops in the Minors, allowing the team to get some additional support sooner than expected.
“The Yankees are discussing having Gerrit Cole return to the rotation instead of making his final Minor League start,” Hoch wrote, “But that hasn’t been set yet. ‘We’re talking through everything,’ Aaron Boone said.”
