Yankees’ Giancarlo Stanton gets rough injury update from Aaron Boone

Seven wins in their last eight games have helped the New York Yankees to the top of the AL East. Currently one and a half games up on the Tampa Bay Rays, the Yankees will look to start their series against the Chicago White Sox with a win on Tuesday night. Before the tilt, New York manager Aaron Boone provided a few updates. Unfortunately, he had a rough update for veteran slugger Giancarlo Stanton. According to team beat reporter Bryan Hoch via X (formerly Twitter), Boone stated that Stanton “reinjured” his calf strain.

“Giancarlo Stanton ‘reinjured’ his calf strain and will have a light week of activity, Aaron Boone said,” reported Hoch ahead of the Yankees’ Tuesday night matchup.

News on Stanton’s calf is yet another setback the Yankees will need to deal with. While New York just got back young outfielder Jasson Dominguez from the IL, center fielder Trent Grisham replaced him on the list. Captain Aaron Judge is still dealing with a fractured rib. Catcher Austin Wells has been dealing with cervical headaches. Starters Max Fried and Clarke Schmidt are working their way back as well.

Despite the host of injuries, the Yankees’ form as of late has been excellent. The offense has continued to produce, while the starting staff has been as strong as its been all season. Now, New York will continue to try and maintain their form from the last couple of weeks. With players such as Stanton, Judge, Grisham, Fried, and more looking to return as soon as they can, GM Brian Cashman and Boone should be aggressive in trying to improve the roster. Will the Bronx Bombers make some moves ahead of what could be a very busy MLB trade deadline? If so, Stanton could return to a much-improved Yankees lineup.
