Yankees’ Aaron Boone calls out question about Giancarlo Stanton’s injury return delay

For a while, Giancarlo Stanton has been dealing with an injury that has kept him out of the lineup. But as the Yankees slugger recovers, manager Aaron Boone called out a media question about his return, according to Yankees beat writer Bryan Hoch.

“Aaron Boone was asked what the delay is with Giancarlo Stanton (calf): It just needs to get to a level intensity-wise with the running. You don’t need to keep asking. I mean, he’s running. When it gets really close to, like, ‘OK, it’s getting close to be in a game,’ or something, we’ll let you know. It’s not there yet.” Hoch wrote on X.

Stanton has no return timetable, and that is concerning to Yankees fans. So far, there has been no news. When Stanton went on the IL a few months ago, some believed he could be back by now. Yet, as the trade deadline approaches, the Yanks still don’t have their designated hitter.

Stanton has only played 24 games this season, hitting .256 with three home runs, 14 RBIs, and eight runs. Since his injury, Ben Rice has primarily been the DH, making 44 starts in the spot. Occasionally, he was switched with Paul Goldschmidt.

Boone has regularly shared updates about his return, which likely caused his frustration. Ultimately, he has dealt with a plethora of injuries. The Yankees’ offense has struggled, and much of that has to do with the stars who are out with injury. With Stanton and Aaron Judge still out, the Yanks need to persevere a little longer as they attempt to hold onto a playoff spot.
