Wolves vs Tottenham Hotspur predictions
Wolverhampton Wanderers will be playing in the Championship next season. The question is: will they face Tottenham Hotspur in 2026/27?
It is a very real possibility. Spurs fans hoped that last term’s 17th-place finish was the nadir, but they are currently one spot below that with five games left to play.
Relegation long seemed unthinkable for Tottenham supporters, but they have had to consider the prospect with increasing seriousness over the last few weeks.
Spurs came close to picking up their first victory of 2026 last weekend. An improved display in Roberto De Zerbi’s first home game at the helm saw Tottenham establish a 2-1 lead against Brighton & Hove Albion, the division’s in-form team before their trip to north London.
But a costly error from Kevin Danso in second-half stoppage time allowed Georginio Rutter to equalise for Brighton, breaking Tottenham hearts in the process.
There were positives to take from their performance, and the fact that West Ham United could only manage a 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace on Monday night means Spurs are not any further adrift of safety.
Leeds United are virtually safe and Nottingham Forest could soon join them, which means we could have a straight shootout between West Ham and Tottenham for the final relegation berth.
Both teams play at 3pm on Saturday, with West Ham welcoming David Moyes and Everton to the London Stadium.
If results go their way, Spurs will be out of the bottom three by 5pm. If they do not, they will be five points adrift. The stakes could not be much higher.
Wolves vs Tottenham Hotspur betting tips
Will Tottenham Hotspur finally get their first win of 2026 against Wolves on Saturday?
Nothing less than a Spurs win will do
Wolves won their last two matches at Molineux, beating Aston Villa and Liverpool within the space of a few days.
Since then, though, they have been well beaten away to West Ham United (0-4) and Leeds United (0-3).
Wolves’ relegation was confirmed when West Ham drew with Crystal Palace earlier this week. Now that their fate has been sealed, Wolves fans are hoping the team can play with a little more freedom.
However, it is more likely that Wolves remain in the rut in which they have been stuck for some time. Tottenham can finally record their first Premier League success of the calendar year this weekend.

Tottenham cannot rely on defence
De Zerbi has already put his stamp on this Tottenham Hotspur team. Against Brighton & Hove Albion, Spurs were more energetic and intense than we have been used to this season, pressing high up the pitch and playing on the front foot.
Managers are usually implored to go back to basics upon taking charge of a relegation-threatened side. But Tottenham are not suited to playing defensively.
It makes much more sense for De Zerbi to unleash his attackers and encourage his creative players to take risks in the final third.
Whether that sort of approach pays off remains to be seen, but it should produce goals on Saturday at least.

Simons to step up again?
It is fair to say Xavi Simons has had a frustrating debut season in the Premier League.
He has shown flashes of quality along the way, but neither Thomas Frank nor Igor Tudor fully trusted the Netherlands international.
Simons was handed a start by De Zerbi last weekend and he delivered. An assist and a goal from the former RB Leipzig man almost brought Tottenham all three points.
If anyone is going to drag Spurs out of their sorry predicament, why not Simons? He certainly has the ability.
