Why Skip Bayless is ‘relieved’ to see Jalen Williams ruled out for Thunder-Spurs Game 7
Skip Bayless posted a surprising reaction towards the injury news of Jalen Williams ahead of Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the San Antonio Spurs.
Williams is going through the fourth season of his career with the Thunder. He rose up the ranks to become one of the premier wings in the league, showcasing his remarkable two-way talents on the hardwood.
However, this season has been tricky for Williams as he missed 49 games in the regular season. Injuries continued to nag him these playoffs as he only combined for 17 minutes in Games 2 and 6 due to the hamstring injury he picked up.
Unfortunately for the Thunder star, he won’t be on the court for Game 7, leaving a hole in the team’s attack. Sports analyst Skip Bayless tweeted a reaction towards the news, expressing relief toward the fact that Williams won’t be available for the series finale.
“Never thought I’d see the day I’d actually be relieved that JDub was ruled out for a Game 7. But after what I saw from him in 6, I’m relieved, for him and the Thunder,” Bayless wrote.
What lies ahead for Jalen Williams, Thunder
The Thunder will miss Jalen Williams’ presence on the perimeter. However, he didn’t have the right fitness to play in Game 6 after being on the court for just 10 minutes. As a result, it made Oklahoma City’s decision to rule him out a logical one for safety reasons.
In the 33 games Williams took part in, he averaged 17.1 points, 5.5 assists and 4.6 rebounds per game. He had shooting splits of 48.4% from the field, including 29.9% from beyond the arc, and 83.7% from the free-throw line.
Oklahoma City is one game away from elimination, ending its chance at making back-to-back NBA Finals appearances. They have caught a great challenge against the Spurs, making this Game 7 a must-watch for all NBA fans.
The Thunder fight for the right to represent the West in the NBA Finals. They host the Spurs in Game 7 on May 30 at 8 p.m. ET.
