Why Olivia Miles has no regrets about waiting an extra year for WNBA Draft
Since arriving in the WNBA, Minnesota Lynx rookie Olivia Miles has emerged as one of the best stories in the WNBA. She’s transitioned seamlessly well into the Lynx offense and has helped them maintain their regular season dominance with Napheesa Collier sidelined with an injury.
Miles’ mature gameplay is a product of her staying with TCU all four years of her career. She had an opportunity to leave the Horned Frogs and enter the WNBA draft in 2025, likely being selected with the second overall pick due to her talent.
In an interview on WNBA Countdown, Miles says her decision to return to college for her final season ultimately helped her become the player she is today.
“Such a great decision for me,” Miles said. “You know, I got to play in a pro-style offense, got to make decisions at a high level. Coach Mark put the ball in my hands and made me be a leader and put a healthy pressure on me to go out there and perform. And I feel like it’s translating really well. “
Miles once again showcased her high level of play on Saturday afternoon, finishing the Lynx’s 88-68 victory over the Seattle Storm with 19 points, six rebounds, and six assists. She quickly exploded to start the game, lifting the Lynx as both a scorer and facilitator. Her play helped the team overcome an early deficit to help the team ultimately seize control of the game.
The experience and poise she plays with have her leading the pack amongst the contenders for the rookie of the year and very well could help the Lynx stay in the contending pack for a WNBA championship.
