Why Giants’ Brian Burns thinks the Knicks are ‘going to get it done’ vs. Spurs
All of New York is behind the New York Knicks, as the team continues its pursuit of the Larry O’Brien Trophy. Among the countless individuals to show support for Jalen Brunson and company is New York Giants linebacker Brian Burns, who took time on Monday to offer his view of the Knicks.
“They look good. I think they’re going to get it done. They show a lot of poise. I think Brunson’s a dawg, he knows how to close out a game,” Burns told reporters (h/t SNY Knicks).
Entering his third season with the Giants, the three-time Pro Bowler Burns knows what kind of impact a Knicks championship would be on the city. The Knicks have not won an NBA title since 1973, and it took them over 25 years to get back to the NBA Finals. Now, they need just two more wins to get the job done and have that incredible downtown parade.
Moreover, a Knicks championship can also serve as an inspiration for the other New York professional sports teams, including Burns and the Giants.
While not yet viewed as a legitimate Super Bowl contender, the Giants are looking to turn things around after winning only four games and missing the NFL playoffs in 2025. Under new head coach John Harbaugh, Burns and the Giants are looking to make noise, at least in the NFC East Division.
In 2025, the 28-year-old Burns, who was traded to the Giants by the Carolina Panthers in 2024, recorded 16.5 sacks, 31 quarterback hits, 67 combined tackles, and seven passes defended in 17 games.
