White Sox’s Munetaka Murakami exits Tigers game with hamstring injury
Munetaka Murakami suffered a leg injury as he had to leave Friday’s game between the Chicago White Sox and the Detroit Tigers.
Murakami is going through the rookie campaign of his career in the majors. He stands out as an active hitter in Chicago’s offense, helping the squad have a solid start to the season.
However, Murakami had unpleasant news after picking up a hamstring injury in the third inning. He landed a hit on the ball as he made his way to first base. While he was successful at reaching the base, he immediately grabbed his right hamstring as the team took him out of the game. Chicago later confirmed that the first baseman is going through right hamstring tightness, per MLB insider Bob Nightengale.
“Chicago White Sox rookie sensation Munetaka Murakami, who has hit 20 homers, left the game with right hamstring tightness. The White Sox say he’ll undergo further examination to determine the severity of the injury,” Nightengale wrote.
