What Yankees’ Aaron Boone said after unfortunate Aaron Judge injury update

New York Yankees star Aaron Judge is expected to miss at least four to six weeks due to a ribs injury. On Friday, Judge revealed that he suffered the injury in late April, which means he played with pain for over a month. Yankees manager Aaron Boone commented on losing Judge to injury before the team’s game against the Boston Red Sox on Friday night.

“Obviously you’re not going to replace Aaron Judge,” Boone said, via SNY Yankees. “We all know how important he is to our club, but we’re also very confident in our ability to go out there and absolutely have the expectation to continue to win games.”

The Yankees still feature a talented roster. Still, trying to play a consistent brand of baseball without Judge will be a challenge.

Ben Rice and Cody Bellinger have performed well in 2026. They will do everything they can to help lead the offense amid Judge’s injury absence. Additionally, Spencer Jones was recalled from Triple-A while Jasson Dominguez is beginning a rehab assignment on Friday. With Jones returning and Dominguez potentially returning soon, the Yankees’ depth is still impressive overall.

New York entered Friday night’s game against the Red Sox with a 37-25 overall record. The Yankees are only a half-game behind the Tampa Bay Rays in the division. The ball club will attempt to catch the Rays in the AL East this weekend.

Meanwhile, the Yankees will continue to monitor and provide updates on Aaron Judge’s injury status as they are made available.
