West Ham v Man City predictions
West Ham look destined for relegation to the Championship in January, when captain Jarrod Bowen sent a rallying cry to fans to stick with the players in the time of need.
Since back-to-back losses to Wolves and Nottingham Forest in the New Year, the Hammers have lost just twice, crucially, picking up three wins and 11 points.
It’s put them right back in contention for survival, just a point from safety, dragging rivals Spurs back to within touching distance.
In the reverse fixture, Pep Guardiola thrashed them 3-0 at the Etihad Stadium. Erling Haaland scoring a brace.
But this is a tougher test for City, than it was two months ago. The Hammers’ have been rejuvenated by the signings of Axel Disasi in defence and forward’s Pablo Felipe and Taty Castellanos in January.
Nuno Espirito Santo has got a structure in place now and players’ fighting for their Premier League lives.
Man City humbled Newcastle again in the cups last weekend, with a 3-1 away victory in the FA Cup. This after beating the Toon over two legs in the Carabao Cup.
But that win was the Citizens only victory in their last three matches, having lost ground in the title race with a draw at home to Forest. And the 3-0 defeat against Real Madrid in the Champions League in midweek.
Guardiola will look for a formula to re-start a winning run that keeps them in contention, many saying muscle memory may kick in if they are within touching distance in April and May.
West Ham v Man City betting tips
Erling Haaland may have netted 22 goals in 28 Premier League games, but hasn’t scored a goal in all competitions since early February.
With Guardiola’s roulette wheel falling on Omar Marmoush and Antoine Semenyo in attack over the last month.
The deputy’s have shown their worth though, with five of Manchester City’s last six Premier League featuring three goals or more.
But if City are reel in Arsenal once again, a red-hot Haaland will be vital to their chances.
Especially with West Ham being a lot more resilient in defence, keeping a clean sheet in three of their last five matches, this game could be won by the odd goal.
The Hammers will be sweating on the fitness of star man Crysencio Summerville. The Dutchman has almost single-handedly dragged his team from the brink. Netting the winner against Fulham last Sunday and goals against Tottenham, Sunderland Burnley too.
If indeed Summerville is out. How Espirito Santo reshapes his side to keep their forward momentum will be key to the result here.
Mateus Fernandes has been at the heart of the West Ham midfield, with 20-year-old Mohamadou Kante starring against Brentford.
Callum Wilson’s was on the brink of an exit in January to signing a new contract at the club until the end of next season.
He will be a threat if they can find him in final third.
