Outclassed Hall looks set to fall
Betting on Misfits boxing events carries a fair amount of risk, given the chaotic and unpredictable nature of the bouts, but Saturday’s contest between Fury and Hall should be a more conventional clash.
Fury, a one-time professional boxer, has found a nice position at the top of the Misfits tree.
TNT wasn’t even close to a British level fighter when operating in the light-heavyweight division, but the 27-year-old is at the peak of the entertainment and exhibition ranks.
Fury got the better of YouTuber Jake Paul by split-decision in 2023 and that was followed by another success over KSI.
TNT returned to the ring to beat Bosnian boxer Kenan Hanjalic last year and, while that is a long way from top-level form, it is a class above what Hall is likely to offer.
Paul has since gone on to beat Mike Tyson and Julio Cesar Chavez, before completing five three-minute rounds against the active former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.
Clearly, the Problem Child spent much of that bout staying out of AJ’s way, but that was still a credible performance from what was essentially a novice fighter.
That’s no world-beating form by any means, but Paul’s effort does give clear indication to the level which Fury may be able to reach and Hall looks a long way off that peak.
Hall was dropped twice and outpointed by fellow strongman Thor Bjornsson on his boxing debut in 2022.
The Newcastle man was wide open defensively in that contest and even the slow and lumbering punches of the Mountain was easily able to find the target.
There is no head movement or speed from Hall and the foot work is plodding at best.
The Beast has since turned his attention to MMA, but the 38-year-old has no fundamental boxing skills and, while Fury is a low-level performer in the professional sport, TNT has a far bigger skill range in this setting.
Hall is likely to offer Fury a stationary target and the 27-year-old should have no problems stopping the Beast in his tracks.
The Manchester bout is set for just six two-minute rounds, but that is enough time for Fury to display his dominance and secure victory over an outclassed Hall.
