Maximilian

Three-runner contest that sees Just Ennemi as the favourite, but it’s a beginners’ chase so that requires a fair bit of confidence in this horse who has yet to run in Britain and makes his debut today for Harry Derham.

Maximilian is rated 141 over hurdles going 3-6 and 2-2 in bumpers so commands a bit of respect up against lower rated hurdlers off the same weight.

He’s nine-years-old but also he’s coming into this off just 284 days break whereas Just Ennemi hasn’t been seen in 445.

Kingston Sunflower

Five wins from 11 hurdle contests including each of the last two with a bit of a sharp uptick in form.

Winning well ahead of Sergeant Fury over course and distance in October before winning well again at Huntingdon.

Each time under Fern O’Brien too so she clearly gets a good tune out of this mare with the benefit of a claim too.

Only been with O’Brien since August but has gone two for two hurdling for the British-based trainer.
