Watford next manager odds: Former Cardiff boss favourite to replace Ed Still
Watford will be on the lookout for a new manager for the 2026/27 campaign after sacking Ed Still just three months after his appointment.
The Belgian coach had only taken over from Javi Gracia at Vicarage Road in February. But Still saw his reign cut short less than 24 hours after his side were thumped 4-0 by Coventry on Saturday.
The 35-year-old had signed a two-and-a-half-year deal when he joined the club just three months ago.
However, talkSPORT understands he was effectively on a three-month rolling contract, which allowed Watford to avoid making a large payout following his exit.
But now attention turns to his successor with some interesting names being priced up.
Former Cardiff boss Errol Bulut is chalked up as the 2/1 favourite in the early betting market.
He helped the Bluebirds to some impressive derby victories over Swansea in the Championship. But it went sour after just one point in the opening six matches in the 2024/25 season.
Others in the running are former Swansea, Southampton and Rangers gaffer Russell Martin, who got Saints promoted in 2024.
As well as Scott Parker, who’s got three Championship promotions on his record. The Englishman recently left Burnley following their relegation back to the second tier.
Former Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior is lined up at 8/1. Despite a topsy-turvy four months at Stamford Bridge.
Rosenior’s Championship credentials shouldn’t be overlooked having managed Derby and Hull which bolstered his reputation.
That was before his foray into Ligue 1 with Strasbourg, taking them into Europe for only the second time since 2005.

However talkSPORT’s Alex Crook gave an interesting take that may well make sense of a possible Errol Bulut appointment.
He said: “I think they might well follow the Hull approach. That doesn’t necessarily mean they’re going to get a British manager.
“But I think they’ve seen what Hull have done in terms of recruiting those British players. Players proven in the Championship, like Oli McBurnie.
“And they see that as a recipe for success. So I think what we’re going to see at Vicarage Road is a change in their recruitment process.”
