Watch Mets’ Bo Bichette launch second HR in just 2 innings vs. Nationals
Infielder Bo Bichette hasn’t lived up to his billing after signing a three-year, $126 million contract with the New York Mets. But on Tuesday, he looked like a completely different player against the Washington Nationals.
Bichette started things off with a two-run home run in the first inning. Then, he smashed another two-run bomb in the second inning to give the Mets a 2-0 lead.

Despite Bichette’s breakout, the Mets have given up their early lead. After slugger James Wood hit a grand slam in the third inning, the Nationals took a 7-5 lead with a three-run third. Perhaps Bichette will come home run to get New York back on top.
Ultimately, the Mets want to come away with a win. They entered the game with a poor 21-26 record. However, New York has won six of their last seven games. As a silver lining though, the Mets would gladly take Bichette coming out of his slump.
Entering Tuesday, the $126 million man had hit .219 with three home runs, 21 RBIs and a stolen bases over his first 47 games with the team. In one game alone, Bichette has already almost matched his home run total.
As New York tries to continue their turnaround, they’ll be relying on the infielder to be a key source of run production. He may not hit two home runs every night, but Bichette will remain in the middle of the lineup. The Mets are well aware of what the infielder brings to the table and have been patient through his slow start. His performance on Tuesday is a sign of why Bichette was handed a $126 million deal.
