[WATCH] IND vs SA 2025: Rohit Sharma makes a wish after Rishabh Pant hands his fallen eyelash
Moments before the start of South Africa’s chase in the second ODI in Raipur, a happy moment took place between Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant. The incident witnessed the former India captain making a wish with his fallen eyelash, handed to him by Pant.
Just minutes before India took the field for the second innings, Rohit and Pant were seen chatting casually near the boundary ropes. Pant, who was not part of the playing XI for this match, suddenly noticed an eyelash on Rohit’s face. The wicketkeeper-batter picked it from Rohit’s eye, placed it on the back of Rohit's hand, and asked him to make a wish. Rohit, who was caught smiling at the gesture, closed his eyes for a moment and completed the ritual.

Rohit unveils India's jersey for T20 World Cup 2026
Before this fun moment, the home team produced a strong batting performance after being asked to bat first for the 20th straight time in ODIs. Although Rohit scored only 14 off 8 balls, hitting three boundaries before edging behind, the rest of the batting unit ensured the Men in Blue reached a strong total.
Virat Kohli was the star once again. Continuing his brilliant form, he hammered 102 off 93 balls, recording his 53rd ODI century and his second consecutive hundred in the series. This knock helped him break multiple records, including surpassing Sachin Tendulkar for the most ODI centuries scored at a single batting position.
Ruturaj Gaikwad supported Kohli brilliantly, smashing his maiden ton (105 off 83 deliveries). The pair added a massive partnership in the middle overs that pushed the hosts over 250. Stand-in captain KL Rahul finished the innings with an unbeaten 66 from 43 balls, taking the team to 358/5 in 50 overs.
Meanwhile, during the mid-innings break, Rohit, who was recently named the tournament ambassador for the 2026 T20 World Cup, unveiled India’s new T20I jersey alongside BCCI officials and Tilak Varma. The new kit includes a deep blue base with bright orange panels and a tricolour-themed collar.
Rohit spoke emotionally about India’s 2024 T20 World Cup journey, recalling their victory, and expressed confidence in the team ahead of the 2026 edition, which will be hosted in India and Sri Lanka.
