Warriors rumors: Dubs more likely to trade than keep pick No. 11

Recently, the Golden State Warriors learned that they would be getting the number 11 pick in the upcoming 2026 NBA Draft. The news comes after the Warriors were eliminated by the Phoenix Suns in the play-in tournament, missing out on the playoffs for the second time in three years.

The Warriors are now amidst a highly consequential offseason for the future direction of the franchise, recently reiterating their commitment to win now by re-signing head coach Steve Kerr to a new deal.

Now, more information has come to light from ClutchPoints NBA insider Brett Siegel about what Golden State’s thinking is regarding the number 11 pick.

“With over a month until the 2026 NBA Draft, the current chances of the Warriors trading this pick outweigh the chances of them adding a young talent, sources said. However, a lot can change in six weeks, and if a trade for a star-level talent doesn’t materialize, this pick will be utilized by the Dubs to begin their next phase of building for the future,” reported Siegel.

The biggest name the Warriors have been tied to on the trade market is Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, and it would take a whole lot more than just the number 11 pick in this year’s draft to pry him away from Milwaukee.

However, the Warriors do have a considerable amount of cap space this year, in addition to their own future draft assets, to work with this summer, and if they truly envision themselves competing for championships again in the Stephen Curry era, adding non-premium young talent isn’t going to do a whole lot for them.

In any case, the NBA Draft is slated to get underway on June 23 from Brooklyn, New York.
