Victor Wembanyama’s immediate reaction to ejection from Game 4 vs. Wolves

The San Antonio Spurs saw Victor Wembanyama get ejected in Game 4 against the Minnesota Timberwolves, changing the entire complexion of the game and potentially the series.

Wembanyama was involved in an rebounding incident with Naz Reid and Jaden McDaniels where the three players were all fighting for a rebound. The Spurs star threw a vicious elbow at Reid, sending him to the ground. That immediately triggered a review from the NBA officials, who took a good chunk of time to fully evaluate the play and Wembanyama’s elbow to the face of Reid.

Zach Zarba then took to the microphone and broke down the review:

“After review, there is wind-up, impact, and follow-through above the neck of an opponent. It is unnecessary and excessive contact by Wembanyama. It meets all the criteria and has been upgraded to a flagrant foul penalty two.”

Victor Wembanyama, who was watching Zach Zarba announce the decision on the jumbotron along with the entire arena, then turned to Harrison Barnes to ask him a question.

“What does that mean?” Wembanyama could be seeing saying to his Spurs teammate while sitting down from the bench.

Barnes responded.

“I”m ejected?” Wembanyama could be seen saying back.

After getting the affirmative, Wembanyama got up, clapped, and high-fived a few of his Spurs teammates before walking back to the San Antonio locker room.

Victor Wembanyama’s night was deemed over after just 12 minutes of play in which he accumulated four points, four rebounds, one assist, two turnovers, three fouls, and no blocked shots.
