The duo first met over ten years ago at UFC Fight Night Saskatoon, where the Hawaiian stopped Oliveira just over the 90-second mark in round one due to a mysterious neck injury.

Since then, both UFC stars have enjoyed excellent careers, with Holloway beating Dustin Poirier in the latter’s retirement fight in his last outing.

Oliveira, meanwhile, has failed to win at least two fights in a row since his iconic 11-fight undefeated streak between 2018 and 2022 that witnessed ‘Do Bronx’ win the UFC lightweight title.

The 36-year-old bounced back from a tough knockout loss to Ilia Topuria at UFC 317 by submitting Mateusz Gamrot in his native Brazil last time out.

“He’s such an amazing human being, but I think Max is taking it.

“But don’t ever count Charles out. He’s dangerous at any moment of the fight. He can just submit you at any time.”

Speaking about the fight, he simply said: “I like Max.”
