  • 4.10: Major Neigh Seyer 9/1 each-way (1pt)

Talk Of New York

Return to Newmarket means there’s plenty on offer from the first day of the Craven Meeting at Newmarket.

Talk Of New York has the potential to strike here with a decent price even if he is 4/5.

He was a 4/9 favourite at Meydan in February but could only finish a close third but there are many reasons for that.

He dwelt at the start and pulled early on too and went from last to third in a highly-rated affair yet now faces lower rated opposition and could take things up much better now at a course this trainer and jockey thrive at.

Charlie Appleby is in incredible form early on too with five winners from 11 runners in the last two weeks alone.

Major Neigh Seyer

Heavy ground may have prevented Major Neigh Seyer from putting in his best possible performance at Saint Cloud last time out but similarly he wasn’t a non-runner for it so it could have been a bit of a test.

Won so well at Newmarket in October though which gives him a bit of value as an each-way play here.

That form is still a bit of a question mark but at the same time remains in heavy consideration off this weight.

Would have gone for Panemonium but 9/2 is a bit of a risk given his strange 7th of seven finish at Newbury last time out when 30 lengths off the field in the Group 3 in October.

Jasmine Bliss

The Noel Fehily Racing Syndicate has been enjoying some great successes recently.

This well-rated Blue Bresil mare still looks like she can progress further too.

Jasmine Bliss has finished in the top three in all of her three chase starts this season and comes here quite fresh after being upped 4lb for that second place at Kempton in the Grade 2 Pendil Novices’ Chase.

Also placed a very close third there on Boxing Day when 22/1 and looks open to make the most of this extra furlong.

Siam Park

Not been seen over fences since falling at Sandown in January and had two decent run outs over hurdles with a couple of close placed efforts at Taunton last month.

Returns to chasing with a fantastic record of four wins out of seven and looks well-weighted still after impressive victory at Plumpton in November.

What’s more encouraging is that his two rivals are hard to back, Raffles Hermes has yet to win in Britain over fences and Irish Chorus has some good form but doesn’t get a mares allowance and faces a 6lb rise from her win last time out.
