Travis Bazzana gets 100% real on Guardians’ lineup amid Jose Ramirez’s injury absence

The Cleveland Guardians prevented a three-game sweep at the hands of the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday, with second baseman Travis Bazzana coming to his team’s rescue.

With Jose Ramirez out with an injury, the 23-year-old Bazzana stepped up and hit a go-ahead solo home run that went 398 feet deep in the seventh inning, breaking a 2-2 tie, and ultimately sparking Cleveland’s 4-2 victory in an interleague series finale at American Family Field in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Following the game, Bazzana spoke about Cleveland’s offense finally coming through for the team.

“We’ve played a lot of close ballgames where we’ve really pitched it and not found a way to get the runs we need across,” Bazzana said, via Zach Sweet of MLB.com.

“It was nice to finish a series we struggled offensively with a couple big swings and get a win.”

The Guardians will be without Ramirez for a while, with the team placing the star third baseman on the 10-day injured list because of his left hamate bone fracture injury.

Ramirez is a big part of the Guardians’ offense, to say the least, even though he’s not hitting as well as he used to so far in the 2026 MLB regular season.

Through 72 games and 314 plate appearances, the seven-time All-Star and six-time Silver Slugger is batting .239/.339/.418 with 10 home runs and 33 RBIs to go along with 24 stolen bases.

The win over Milwaukee was the 40th of the season for the Cleveland, which will next face the Houston Astros for a three-game series that begins on Friday at Daikin Park in Houston, Texas.
