Travis and Jason Kelce left in tears at Chiefs star’s disastrous NFL Combine moment

Chris Jones is a three-time Super Bowl champion.

But the Kansas City Chiefs star still hasn’t forgotten one instantly embarrassing NFL Combine moment.

The event, which has been unfolding in Indianapolis again this week and sees Fernando Mendoza the main attraction, is a chance for draft prospects to catch the eye of teams, general managers and coaches across the league.

Unfortunately for Jones, he took that opportunity a bit too literally during his workout in 2016, and suffered one of the most embarrassing moments in combine history.

The former Mississippi State Bulldog had an unforgettable experience, when he ran the 40-yard dash and suffered a wardrobe malfunction that resulted in his manhood escaping the compression shorts he was wearing.

To make matters worse, NFL Network replayed the run and accidentally zoomed in on Jones’ private area.

Years later, he joined Chiefs teammate Travis Kelce — who is still at the center of a retirement decision — and brother Jason on their New Heights podcast, leaving them in stitches over the mortifying moment.

Chris Jones leaves Travis and Jason Kelce howling with Combine fail

“You had one of the most electric combine moments that’s ever gone on national television,” Travis teased.

Jones replied: “I was so big on being different from everyone – everybody was wearing the f***ing long tights and I was like, ‘You know what, I’m not going out there and copying everybody. I’m going to wear the short tights.’

“I didn’t realise they was boxers, bro! Honest to God!”

“Well it made you faster,” Travis the joked, wiping tears away from laughing so hard.

“You tripped over that third leg,” Jason then said, causing the other two to burst into more fits.

“That s*** is so f***ing funny,” Travis replied.

“We were dying laughing.”

Jones then remembered saying ‘my d*** fell out’ as cameras zoomed in on him.

“All of a sudden I felt it touch my leg and I’m like, Oh s***.’ “

Travis was laughing uncontrollably as Jones said he tried to hide the malfunction ‘as little kids were watching.’

“I don’t think mine could ‘fall’ anywhere,” responded Jason, as the three struggled to hold it together.

In an interview with Sports Illustrated back in 2017, Jones went into even more detail.

Chris Jones recalls shocking Combine moment in excruciating detail

“My d*** came out. I looked down and the hummer is out,” he recalled.

“I try to cover it up. I’m thinking to myself, ‘Little kids are watching.’ I take a dive and try to cover it up. I’m thinking, ‘How long was this thing out?’

“Those black tights, they weren’t really tights. They were boxers. I’m probably the embarrassment king.”

Jones ultimately clocked his 40-yard dash in 5.03 seconds back in 2016 — fifth fastest among 300-pound defensive lineman.

Thankfully, the embarrassing incident didn’t cause him to slip in the draft, as he was selected in the second round by the Chiefs with the number 37 overall pick.

He would go on to become one of the best DTs in the league.

The 30-year-old is a seven-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro.

He plays under a $158 million deal in Kansas City, which could be restructed again this offseason to help the team bounce back from a rough 6-11 finish in 2025, which saw them miss the playoffs.

He also stars in a 40-yard dash video that resurfaces every year when the NFL Combine returns.
