Transfer notebook: Newcastle slap huge price tag on Sandro Tonali, Arsenal eye Bournemouth man, Jarrod Bowen West Ham future latest

Newcastle United want at least £90million for Tottenham Hotspur target Sandro Tonali, talkSPORT understands.

Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi, who is taking a lead role on transfers, wants to bring his fellow Italian to north London.

Newcastle sources expect the 26-year-old, who is also on the long list of Manchester United and Arsenal, to be sold.

But with Tonali under contract until 2029, the Magpies feel they are in a strong position to demand a high fee.

Nottingham Forest’s £130million valuation of former Toon star Elliot Anderson will also be taken into account.

That means staying in the Premier League is most likely, even though Tonali is open to the idea of returning to AC Milan.

Spurs have already signed free agent pair Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi and are readying a third bid for Brighton centre-back Jan Paul van Hecke.

Gunners join Scott hunt

Arsenal are the latest Premier League club showing strong interest in Bournemouth’s Alex Scott.

The midfielder, who narrowly missed out on a place in England’s World Cup squad, is in high demand this summer.

Liverpool and Manchester United both have the Channel Islander on their radar.

The Gunners are also contemplating making an approach to the Cherries for Tottenham fan Scott.

As previously reported by the notebook, Bournemouth do not want to sell Scott this summer and are engaged in contract talks with any new deal expected to include a big release clause.

Bowen future

West Ham co-owner Daniel Kretinsky is hopeful of keeping Jarrod Bowen despite relegation from the Premier League.

Kretinsky is on the verge of becoming West Ham’s majority shareholder by buying out shares from the family of the late David Gold.

The Czech businessman has already taken more day-to-day control in the wake of the allegations of exploitative behaviour made against David Sullivan and it was his call to keep manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

Bowen was widely expected to leave the London Stadium after West Ham dropped out of the top flight for the first time in 12 years.

But while the likes of United and Paris Saint-Germain target Crysencio Summerville and Aaron Wan-Bissaka will leave, Kretinsky wants his captain to stay and lead their fight for promotion from the Championship next season.

At 29, West Ham are likely to struggle to bring in a big fee for Bowen.

Wolves paying former boss

Wolves are still paying Nottingham Forest manager Vitor Pereira – almost a year after his sacking!

Pereira was axed by the Molineux club last November after a run of ten games without a win at the start of the season.

Sources have told talkSPORT the Portuguese continued to take a salary, rather than a hefty one-off compensation fee.

Pereira has a year left on his deal at the City Ground and wants to stay long term, but negotiations over a new agreement have been put on hold, at least for now.
