Tom Brady’s billionaire business partner accidentally leaks $14bn plan to extend NFL to 34 teams

Roger Goodell’s grand plan for the NFL apparently includes two expansion teams.

The commissioner’s passion for more international offerings and Week 18 is well known.

But according to billionaire Mike Repole — a major UFL investor — adding two more franchises is also firmly on the agenda.

The businessman co-owns the company NoBull with NFL icon Tom Brady and is clearly well connected in football circles.

Repole was discussing potential scheduling conflicts with the NFL and college football seasons both expanding and confirmed that the UFL would never overlap.

“I think that even if we stayed where we’re at we’re gonna get closer to the end of bowl seasons because [the NFL and CFB] are going further along,” he said. “And again, I think that’s an opportunity. That just shows you how much people love football.

“I think the NFL’s doing eight, or nine, or 10 international games this year.

“They’re adding an extra week, talking about two more expansion teams. It’s great for football.”

Repole may have just leaked one of the NFL’s best-kept secrets. He could, of course, have misspoken or presented bad information.

Expansion is definitely on the cards in the NBA and MLB, although neither league has confirmed the move.

There has not been much chatter from the NFL, but there would be plenty of interested cities and lots of money to be made.

The Seattle Seahawks will likely command a fee of around $9 billion when new owners are found.

An average NFL franchise comes in at $7.1 billion per Forbes and the last time a sale went through saw the Washington Commanders valued at $6.05 billion in 2023.

With those numbers in mind, a fee of $5-7 billion would likely be demanded per expansion franchise.

That would net current owners a significant windfall and also create extra reach in new markets.

With Goodell’s relentless pursuit of global dominance, the bidding may not even be limited to the U.S..

It merged with NoBull in 2024 and Brady became a co-owner alongside Repole — the man behind Vitaminwater and BodyArmor.

NoBull was struggling in 2023 and laid off 35 percent of its staff before Repole, who is worth an estimated $1.6 billion, came aboard and turned the company round.

The firm recently raised $50 million at a $1 billion valuation, per Front Office Sports.
