Tigers’ Tarik Skubal drops ‘rollercoaster’ admission on elbow injury recovery
The Detroit Tigers have had a season to forget. Not only does the team have a losing record, but Detroit ace Tarik Skubal is dealing with an elbow injury. Skubal is opening up about how he has been feeling amidst that problem.
“Yeah, it’s kind of been a little bit of a rollercoaster, but every season kind of is,” Skubal said, per Detroit reporter Brad Galli.
Tarik Skubal will be back on the mound in a rehab start Sunday. He said it's been a rollercoaster, but he is glad the timeline was ultimately shorter than expected.

The good news is that Skubal is on the mend. He is set to make a rehab start on Sunday, the reporter said. Tigers fans are desperate to see their ace return to the team.
Detroit is just 26-38 on the season. The Tigers are fourth in the American League Central heading into Saturday. The club has struggled away from home this season, with a 11-24 road record.
Skubal has been the subject of consistent trade speculation in recent weeks, as the Tigers have slumped. Every big spender in Major League Baseball is expected to make a run before the MLB trade deadline, to grab Skubal.
Some teams mentioned as possible landing spots include: the Philadelphia Phillies, San Diego Padres and New York Yankees. MLB insiders believe the Tampa Bay Rays could also get involved.
Skubal has spoken in recent weeks about how he is trying to drown out all that noise. He is focused on just getting better.
“To just be back and competing again right now, I think is really special,” Skubal added.
The Tigers ace has won the American League Cy Young award the last two seasons. He has also been named an All-Star in both 2024 and 2025. This season, Skubal has a 2.70 ERA in seven starts.
The Tigers play the Seattle Mariners on Saturday.
