Thunder’s Jalen Williams promises ‘uncomfortable conversations’ after SGA’s 2nd MVP

On Sunday morning, it was announced that Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had won his second straight NBA MVP award. The news comes one day before the Thunder are set to kick off their Western Conference Finals series against the San Antonio Spurs.

Now, SGA’s Thunder teammate Jalen Williams has taken to Instagram to sing his star co-star’s praises, writing on his story that “there’s gonna be some uncomfortable convas yall gotta have…” over a picture announcing the MVP win from SLAM Magazine.

Even prior to Sunday’s announcement, which many anticipated would be coming, there were starting to be talks about where Gilgeous-Alexander’s current run of success ranks among the all-time great peaks for a guard at the NBA level. The list of point guards to be the best player on a championship team is already quite small, and SGA has a chance to add a second straight Finals win and NBA Finals MVP to his trophy case over the next two months.

Getting all the way there will be no easy task, however, as the Thunder are now matched up against a Spurs team that had their number throughout the regular season, winning four out of the five matchups, including an in-season tournament game, that the teams had this season.

The Spurs marched into the conference finals with two straight blowout wins over the Minnesota Timberwolves, and it remains to be seen what Oklahoma City’s strategy will be when it comes to trying to slow down Victor Wembanyama.

However, with the now two-time MVP Gilgeous-Alexander on their side, the Thunder have to feel pretty confident about their chances of advancing to another NBA Finals.
