The real reason WWE’s Roman Reigns was pulled from planned June appearances
After proclaiming that he was going to be “full-time” for the summer, it might be a little while before WWE fans see Roman Reigns following his Backlash match against Jacob Fatu on May 9.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer reports that Reigns isn’t scheduled for the company’s next PLE in Saudi Arabia, Night of Champions, on June 27. In turn, WWE doesn’t feel the need to feature him on weekly TV to flesh out a storyline before the show.
“Regarding Roman Reigns being pulled from June TV dates that were announced, the reason we were told is that he’s not going to be on the Saudi Arabia PPV and thus there was no reason to do the TV’s building that show,” Meltzer wrote.
There’s also a chance that he could lose the World Heavyweight Championship to Fatu. Meltzer notes that if Reigns retains, though, his original reason for Reigns being pulled from WWE programming in June remains.
“If he loses the title next week, of course that would be a change and there will be more to the story,” Meltzer explained. “If he retains, that’s probably all it is. But Reigns is no longer scheduled for any television in June.”
Will Roman Reigns be taking a break from WWE after Backlash?

Time will tell what Reigns does after Backlash. His match against Fatu hasn’t taken place yet, and that will likely dictate his next steps.
Reigns is in the early days of his latest world title reign. He beat CM Punk in the main event of WrestleMania 42 to win the World Heavyweight Championship.
His first title defense will be against Fatu at Backlash. This is the first singles match between them in their WWE careers. Previously, they did face at Bad Blood 2024 when the “Tribal Chief” teamed up with Cody Rhodes to take on Fatu and Solo Sikoa. A month later at Crown Jewel, the OG Bloodline (Reigns, Jey Uso, and Jimmy Uso) reunited to face Fatu, Sikoa, and Tama Tonga.
