Taylor Hall’s thrilling 3-point game sends Hurricanes to Stanley Cup Final

The Carolina Hurricanes lost Game 1 of the 2026 Eastern Conference Finals, but that may have been just what they needed. Carolina has dominated the Canadiens ever since that opening contest. And as a result, Taylor Hall and company can say they are Eastern Conference Champions.

Hall scored three points in Game 5 on Friday night, including a goal. He set a new franchise record in the process. Carolina’s defense once again smothered the Canadiens, limiting their shooting lanes and forcing key turnovers. In the end, the Canes won Game 5 by the score of 6-1, and are on to the Stanley Cup Final.

The Hurricanes have had a relatively pain-free road to the Final. In fact, the loss to the Habs in Game 1 represents their only loss of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Carolina swept the Ottawa Senators and Philadelphia Flyers en route to the East Final. They are 12-1 in the postseason following this series against Montreal.

Awaiting the Hurricanes in the Stanley Cup Final is the champion of the Western Conference, the Vegas Golden Knights. Mitch Marner has had an incredible postseason to help lead Vegas to the Final for the first time since 2023. The Golden Knights eliminated the Utah Mammoth and Anaheim Ducks each in six games before sweeping the Colorado Avalanche in the West Final.

The stage is finally set for the most important series on the hockey calendar. Carolina and Vegas will fight to win a championship their fanbase desperately craves. Game 1 of the 2026 Stanley Cup Final will take place on Tuesday, June 1, at the Lenovo Center in Raleigh, North Carolina.
