talkSPORT’s running superstar left emotional by astonishing five-figure contribution from listeners
talkSPORT host Barry Glendenning couldn’t hold back his emotions as the incredible amount of money he had raised was revealed.
Glendenning took part in the London Landmarks Half Marathon on Sunday, finishing the race in two hours and 46 minutes.

The Warm-Up co-presenter ran the half marathon to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.
And he’s certainly done them proud, with the reveal of the huge amount of donations leaving him holding back tears.
Speaking to Max Rushden and Charlie Baker after he had finished the race, Glendenning said: “It was an incredibly unpleasant experience, Max, as I suspected it would be.
“I’m used to plodding around the perimeter of various south London parks on my own, so it was nice to run with company.
“Crowds were very helpful, lots of kids handing out jelly babies and offering high fives, lots of bands and music.
“But as you know, Max, I did this marathon mainly to spite you, so I’m glad it’s finished…
“I’m told that you and Charlie and the team have been busy fundraising for me whilst I was out plodding around.”
A huge sum raised for charity
Glendenning then asked Rushden and Baker for the latest total, and Rushden went on to reveal: “We are at £82,118!”
And that took the Warm-Up co-host by surprise, as he wiped a few tears from his eyes with his voice wavering in reply.
“That is unbelievable, I’m genuinely moved by that,” he admitted. “Thanks, everyone.”

Glendenning later posted an update on his JustGiving page on Monday, revealing the full impact of the talkSPORT listeners.
The listeners, Rushden, and Baker all helped to add a whopping £20,000 to the total for Great Ormond Street Hospital.
And as of Monday, April 13, donations have risen to £87,113.

A perfect day
Glendenning went on to discuss his feelings when crossing the line and told a funny story of some confusion in London.
He explained: “I felt surprised, because I thought I had another mile left…either the course was short or Strava was on the blink!

“I saw the finish and thought this can’t be right, but it was, and I crossed the line and asked if I’d made a mistake.”
And not only did he finish the half marathon, Sunderland fan Glendenning ended up having another great outcome on Sunday.
“I was worried I’d get emotional, but I think that will come when Sunderland beat Spurs this afternoon,” he joked.
The Black Cats did go on to beat Tottenham 1-0 at the Stadium of Light, seeing Spurs remain in the Premier League‘s bottom three.
As for Regis Le Bris’ side, they could still potentially achieve European football this season following an impressive top-flight return.
