Bet of the day
Elche to beat Sevilla @ 6/5
Elche continue to punch above their weight in La Liga following last season’s promotion and they can build on their impressive home record when struggling Sevilla come to town.
Eder Sarabia’s side have won five and lost only once in nine league matches at the Estadio Martinez Valero, with the likes of Real Madrid, Athletic Club and Real Betis having all left the venue without picking up a victory.
Sevilla make the trip to Alicante having lost four on the bounce across all competitions, failing to score in each of those defeats, while their last league success on the road came at Rayo Vallecano all the way back in September.
This is no longer the Sevilla of old – they are on course for a fourth successive bottom-half finish and may come unstuck against this solid Elche outfit.
Bet builder 31/4
- Over 2.5 goals
- Danny Welbeck to score at any time
- David Brooks to score at any time
Brighton and Bournemouth should serve up plenty of entertainment on Monday, with the Seagulls having scored in five consecutive games, while an eye-catching 74 goals have been netted in Premier League matches involving the Cherries this season.
Of the likely goalscorers, Brighton forward Danny Welbeck stands out after he grabbed his ninth of the campaign in last weekend’s FA Cup victory at Manchester United, while he also notched what proved to be the winning goal in this fixture last season.
At the other end, David Brooks will be tasked with filling some of the void left by Antoine Semenyo’s departure and the Welshman is in form, with three goal involvements across his last four appearances for Bournemouth in league and cup.
Acca 13/1
- Brighton to beat Bournemouth
- Cremonese and Verona to draw
- Lazio to beat Como
Brighton have won four on the bounce when facing Bournemouth on home soil and can make that five against a Cherries team that has not won away since August and is still reeling from Semenyo’s departure.
Two out-of-form sides will be meeting in Serie A as Cremonese, who are winless in six, host a rock-bottom Verona team that has taken just one point from the last 15 available.
With both sides low on confidence, and having drawn a combined 14 games this season, this could well finish all-square.
Elsewhere in Italy, Como’s fine season hit the buffers with a midweek loss to AC Milan and they may also come up short when they visit Lazio, who returned to form with victory at Verona last time out.
Como have already lost in the capital once this season, going down 1-0 at Roma, while they have also been beaten at Bologna and Inter Milan without even troubling the scoresheet.
