talkSPORT betting tips – Best Ayr racing bets and expert advice for Friday

Day one of the 2026 Grand National Festival kicks off on Thursday with four Grade 1 contests for racing fans to enjoy.

This card features the 2024 Foxhunters’ Champion, It’s On The Line, who bids to reverse the form from last month’s Cheltenham Festival.

Our expert, Liam Watson, has a trio of selections from the card at Aintree.

Friday’s Racing Tips

  • 2.20 Ayr – Marty Mcfly @ 7/2
  • 3.30 Ayr – Donnacha @ 2/1
  • 5.15 Ayr – Guchen @ SP

2.20 Ayr – Marty Mcfly @ 7/2

Eight year old Marty McFly is one to note having won on his last four starts, showing marked improvement in recent months.

The Sandy Thompson inmate has really found his stride over fences this year, progressing with each run and winning in increasingly convincing fashion.

Those victories have come across a range of trips, with his most recent two coming over a similar distance to this contest.

His jumping has sharpened up significantly, allowing him to travel better and handle the faster pace and he was upped 7lb for his most recent impressive victory in a stronger race.

Marty Mcfly looks like a horse firmly on the upgrade, and a further rise in the weights may not be enough to stop his momentum.

3.30 Ayr – Donnacha @ 2/1

The Nigel Hawke-trained Donnacha looks set for another bold showing following a highly consistent run of form. He gained a notable success at Cheltenham earlier this year, winning a competitive handicap and getting the better of Jagwar in a tight finish, which reads very well.

Donnacha has been a model of consistency, winning three of his last six starts and finishing in the first three on each occasion.

He arrives here in excellent form and with conditions set to suit, looks likely to give another strong account, especially if reproducing his Cheltenham run.

5.15 Ayr – Guchen @ SP

Trained by Kim Bailey and Mat Nicholls, Guchen is another who has found improvement of late.

He took a bit of time to get going and showed some promise in novice hurdles, without threatening to win.

However, since switching to handicaps, Guchen appears to have found his feet, winning his last two starts in convincing fashion.

His most recent success came in emphatic style, pulling clear to win by 19 lengths, suggesting he is well ahead of his mark at present.

The six-year-old looks a serious contender once again if able to build on his latest performances and is well placed to land a hat-trick.
