After two weeks of hype, debate, and discussion, Super Bowl LX has finally arrived

Later tonight the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks will square off at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, in a rematch of Super Bowl XLIX, one of the classics in NFL history. Here at SB Nation we have covered every potential angle of this game, from three ways the Patriots can win, three ways the Seahawks can win, to even the odds for the color of Gatorade that will be used in the celebration.

One more angle to discuss? The uniforms. Specifically, the patches that will be worn by both the Seahawks and the Patriots in Super Bowl LX.

Let’s start with the Seahawks and their uniforms.

Seahawks uniforms for Super Bowl LX

At the outset, the Patriots are the designated home team for Super Bowl LX, as the two conferences simply rotate the home-team designation each year. That gave New England the choice of uniforms, and the Patriots have opted for their all-white combination, leaving Seattle to wear their home jerseys, with matching navy pants. This is the combination Seattle wore in both their playoff games this season.

Seattle has three uniform patches on their jerseys for Super Bowl LX. As is customary, each team will have the Super Bowl logo on their jersey, which you can see on Sam Darnold’s right shoulder in the above image.

This season, Seattle has also been wearing a patch to commemorate the 50th season in franchise history. The Seahawks began play in 1976, and the patch notes that year at the top. In addition to the number 50, the patch contains the Seahawks’ logo, as well as 12 feathers, a nod to the “12s,” the passionate Seahawks fans that pack Lumen Field and follow the team:

The final patch? The USA 250 patch that both teams will be wearing for Super Bowl LX. As part of the nation’s 250th anniversary commemoration and celebration, several sports leagues will be displayed “on athlete uniforms and performance gear or in the venues where they compete during marquee moments throughout the year.”

Super Bowl LX is the first event this year to feature this patch, but later this year you will see USA 250 patches at the NBA Finals, the Stanley Cup Final, all July 4 MLB games, Minor League Baseball games on July 4, the Home Run Derby and MLB All-Star Game, WrestleMania 42, MLS Opening Weekend, and more events throughout the year.

As noted above, New England is the designated home team for Super Bowl LX.

They have opted for an all-white combination, with white jerseys and white pants:

For those wondering, New England went 5-0 in this uniform combination during the regular season, and won the AFC Championship Game in Denver against the Broncos in this combination.

New England’s jerseys have just the two patches, the Super Bowl LX logo, as well as the USA 250 patch.

One last note on the Patriots opting for white jerseys. In addition to New England’s record in the all-white uniforms this year, the Patriots have enjoyed more success in Super Bowls when wearing white. “The Patriots are 4-2 when wearing white in Super Bowls, while they are 2-3 when wearing red or blue home uniforms,” as noted by NFL.com.

That includes a win over the Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX.
